Looks like we’re done west of New Braunfels. Didn’t get a drop of rain but haven’t had power for 45 min now.

Happy to miss out on the hail though.

That seems like a bit of an optical illusion with the camera angle. Still a giant hailstone but I don’t think it’s 6+ inches.

For all of our pocketbook's sake, I hope the metro areas continue avoiding costly severe weather as much as possible... Texas could use a break from those kind of episodes...

It's not quite on the end, and it's angled so we can't see the numbers on the right side. But, it's real close to 6 probably.

So, this is a dumb question. I know nothing about space weather. With this severe storm, are our computers and hard drives safe? I think the issue is more electrical from what I can tell, but if I need to wrap my network server in metal or something, just in case....

Potential is that anything that relies on satellite connection/services may be impacted, limited though more than likely. Personal electronics shouldn't be effected.

It will not damage anything like your personal devices. It is primarily a threat to satellites, and really severe ones can interrupt the power grid. As long as you have your devices plugged into surge protectors, you'll be fine.

From a weather weenie / tracking standpoint, it makes for a boring/tedious hobby (part of my reason for moving to DFW was thinking I wouldn't have to storm chase often to get my fix in).

But at the same time, I hear you. I don't necessarily wish costly lost/destruction on people and their property either.

Unfortunately it looks like the same areas that have seen too much rain the past few weeks have the best chance of seeing more heavy totals over the next week. Meanwhile south TX will probably continue to miss out, where it's really needed. Quite the frustrating pattern lately. So close but so far from finally ending the drought.

It’s all north of I-10. I’ve only had about a half inch of rain in the past 4 weeks. I think those of us south of 10 are gonna have to wait till the tropics heat up.
