Winter returns to the Southern Plains...

#1 Postby wx247 » Wed Feb 05, 2003 10:56 pm

NWS Offices in Wichita, Tulsa, Springfield, Little Rock, and St. Louis have posted Winter Weather Advisories for Southern Kansas, Northern Oklahoma and Arkansas, and much of Missouri through tomorrow evening.

It looks like the majority of this area will see 2-4" but some areas in Northern Arkansas and extreme southern Missouri could see isolated 6" totals.

This storm looks to travel on into Southern Illinois and Northern Kentucky. From there the tracks kind of differ. Any ideas on a model solution of choice?

Morning Chad!

I try myself to keep from wishcasting. I find it difficult to do sometimes, but it looks like my totals are coming in line this morning. We have 1" of new snow on the ground already and looks like a second, much more vigorous wave will approach later this morning.

Yea lots of wishcaster for snow. They even have a snow-train to take them to it if it comes close

A quick update...we are approaching 2.5" of snow with this system. It appears we should end up with 3 or 4 inches of the white stuff. The more significant snows look to fall across Northern Arkansas where 6 or 7 inches look likely!

oooooooooooo Bad word...wishcaster. You might get flamed on other sites, but I tend to think itll be tongue in cheek here. So good to know this, so when I make a few forecasts and they dont turn out exactly as they should, I dont get reamed! lol Its all good...even weathermen are right a percentage of the time!

Total snow accumulation is approaching 4" from this storm. We will have to wait and see if we make it there. The snow is winding down so I doubt it.

RECORD SNOWFALL FOR THE SEASON: 54.0"

We are getting closer to this every storm. Mid February through Late March is typically our big snow time, so being 22" away...we could POSSIBLY make it.

Time will tell...

This site is a "NO FLAMING ZONE"

A little heated debate never hurt anybody but we draw the line at name calling and that kind of needless drival. What family doesn't have a few disagreements? We prefer a good natured "BOP on the head" and maybe even a few bets (most never get paid) that are worth their weight in "Bragging Rights".

Excellent policy to abide by Marshall...with this crew things will work out just fine!
