Last year, I think we argued over what constituted the first real front.

OK Tireman4, I'll play. I say October 2nd.

Porta,

Good point. I think one that dries us out and drops lows into the 60's. :)

I vote September 25th.

For me a "fall front" would be one that sends temperatures into the 70s for highs and 50s for lows to the population centers of Texas without the assistance of rain and a constant northerly component to the winds.

I will go with the first front that enables me to turn off the a/c at night and open the windows. September 29th.

Yes we did. I think I asked the question, which is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread. :cheesy: However for the sake of staying on topic  I will say September 29 with the caveat :P that the low temperature must go below 63f.

Well, if you are talking like I think you are - the first significant front where high temps are 20 degrees colder, I'd say October 17th.

I'm throwing a dart at the calendar and saying October 4th. Seems scientific, yeah?

In our annual "first cold front" contest, we define the first cold front (in Houston) as one which drops the dew point to 49F or lower at 12Z at IAH. I picked October 2nd. That doesn't preclude a weaker front arriving around a week or so before then.

Heading for the low 60s this weekend in Tallahassee, FL. 50's not far away i'm sure. This is the first real cold front for FL.
