We have now hit the 2 year anniversary of the greatest tornado outbreak of many of our lifetimes, and the deadliest in decades. It was truly a day I will never forget, and I am sure a lot of you won't forget either. The situations I was in on that day and the days after were memorable as well.

Sadly, nearly 350 people lost their lives that day and on the days surrounding it. Many communities were torn to shreds. Power was out to millions as well.

How has the rebuilding come along in the hardest-hit communities (i.e. Tuscaloosa, Smithville, Hackleburg, Phil Campbell, Apison, Ringgold, Rainsville, etc.)?

Was an amazing day. Still remember that moment when I realized this was more than a Super Tuesday level outbreak. I remember PM'ing one of the pro-mets "we're watching Super Outbreak II".

It is definitely a day I won't forget. I was watching it unfold on my comp and was just aghast at what I was seeing. I didn't even eat on any kind of regular schedule that day.

I was on the road that day, and missed a lot of the action that was on TV. However, one of the 210+ tornadoes actually spun directly into my face...it was a long day, and especially night when I heard how catastrophic it was. Then to actually see the extreme devastation first hand in the next 2 days, wow.

I was sitting with my son, watching TWC and just aghast. Words cannot even describe that day. The winds (in Houston) were just howling from the S and SE. It was a dry heat too...for 2011...

The 1 year anniversary thread mentions a lot of the highlights. They had the strongest worded watches and discussions I have ever seen, yet even those may have been conservative.

April 27, 2011 is now one of the most forefront dates in my mind. Still believe the Tuscaloosa tornado was an EF5 at least at some point in its life.

That's me during most severe weather outbreaks that become huge, it especially happened on May 24, 2011 where I ended up staying up 35 hours and not eating for 20 hours (during wake time) which is extremely long. Its not a big deal if you were asleep during most of that time (24 hours for example without eating with 10 hours of zzz's) but awake is quite something. It was nuts.

The winds in Ontario were just howling as well that day (the day before mostly). If the winds were that strong for that great length of distance, then wow!

I got some good screen caps in there too. I remember posting videos from certain violent tornadoes and then you re-posting them again without noticing I already did .

What really was unnerving was just when we thought we saw a REALLY BAD and HISTORIC outbreak, Joplin comes another month or so later. That year was very scary. It also showed that tornadoes could happen anywhere, rural or urban. I think that Springfield, MA and NYC was also hit that year.

Spring 2011 really was as BAD as it ever has been severe weather wise. Certainly the worst in my lifetime I can remember.

Glad this year has been a more quiet up till now, really.

I will never forget that day but it's a shame a lot of the violent tornadoes that day seem to be almost forgotten the Tuscaloosa EF-4 took up much of the media it seems to be on the only that is remembered It's like no one remembers the four EF-5's that day not the Smithville,MS Tornado or the Philadelphia,MS EF-5 or the two EF-5's in Alabama the Hackleburg/Phil Cambell tornado although that one was a long tracked one and destroyed multiple communities. Or the Rainsville EF-5 which I had to do some digging just to find some news on the extremely powerful tornado. April,27th 2011 was the first tornado outbreak I have been through...and I lived in Kansas and I can't remember going through one.
