It was a goodly amount of rain that fell in the New Orleans area *LATE* last night, when all y'all were asleep.

Radar started showing an increase in showers on Southern South Shore parishes around 145 AM late last night. Then between 3 AM & 330 AM late last night when all y'all were asleep, the radar went GANG-BUSTERS with numerous showers & thunderstorms.

One of my weather observers wrote-in to me telling me lightning was all around him on the Westbank in Marrero.

Area METARS-(YOUTARS)- showed much of the big chunk of rainfall arrived before Sunrise, in the New Orleans area between 3 AM late last night up until 7 AM early this morning, while most people were still sleeping, so it went un-noticed.

The hardest-hit areas were the Westbank into New Orleans East, where Belle Chasse NAS received 0.91" between 2 AM & 7 AM ---> nearly an INCH! That's pretty good for Belle Chasse!

New Orleans East picked up exactly 3/4" (0.75") between 2 AM and 7 AM.

Even our friends in Slidell picked up 0.64" before Sunrise this morning, with an additional 0.14" after sunrise.

Averaging-out the 3 New Orleans reporting stations I use, MSY, NEW, NBG -->> The average rainfall total has come out to be 1.19" from yesterday's FIRST round of rain in the late morning thru the afternoon, PLUS put-together with round #2 from LATE last night's (pre-dawn Wednesday morning), amounts. N. O. Int'l received their higher amounts yesterday, from round #1; whereas the Westbank, Slidell, & New Orleans East received their higher amounts late last night from round #2.

Yes, ma'am! It's been a wet start to the month for Lafayette, too. The Lafayette regional airport has received exactly 3 inches in the first 3 days of November up thru 8 PM this November 3rd.

A look at Doppler rainfall estimates showed higher, in the 4" range in Lafayette's parish, but the gauge at the airport shows 3 inches, registered.

Central Vermilion's parish received the most of anywhere around with OVER 10 inches!
