I just wanted to take a moment to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Storm2K members out in Texas. I do not post frequently on the Texas thread, but when I do post on this thread, you guys are some of the most knowledgeable and fun group of folks anywhere on the internet! I always enjoy chatting with you all out there.

Other than first hand weather reports, I add nothing of substance to this board. But I sit here and hit refresh all day every day. Think snow.

Happy t-giving all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Among the many things I'm thankful for is all of the beneficial rainfall we've received! It's been pretty wet across the state over the past few years, and I'm thankful for every drop we get! :D

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The GFS has tons of cold air after the next week, still some hint of snow in the day 10 storm also.

The warmest high at DFW between 216-384 hours is 50 degrees... with several days barely in the 40s and several below freezing lows(even some mid 20s)

What a day. Fantastic turkey dinner, then we setup a TV on the back deck and watched the Cowboys while all the kids played in the backyard in absolutely perfect weather. I love winter as much as anyone, but I hat a treat today was in NoTex.

Very thankful for this board and all of the interesting weather talk, 90% of which flies right over my head. Happy Thanksgiving and Hook 'Em!

Happy Day After Thanksgiving!

This board is always a great place for a weather geek like me to turn. I feel like I know many of you even though I've never actually met any Storm2K members in person.

I hope you had a great day celebrating the blessings of family and friends. I'm in the process of losing my dad. Maybe the last Thanksgiving we'll have with him. Cherish the times that you have with the people you love.

Meanwhile, let's get a little winter excitement going around here! :D :froze:

I am encouraged for you folks in Ashville and the SE this morning as the pattern transitions to a more favorable pattern for rainfall, perhaps some of it heavy. Hopefully the 7 Day QPF forecast verifies and provides some relief from all the fires and smoke plaguing your part of the US.

Back here in Texas, the overnight ensembles continue to suggest a step down process as the Hemispheric Pattern shifts to a buckling of the Northern Pacific Jet and provides opportunities of a series of deep longwave troughs digging well South into Mexico and a series of cyclones organizing in the New Mexico/West Texas Region and lifting ENE to NE with a strong Greenland Blocking regime. There continues to be indications via the reliable ensembles of cold air build South from Eurasia across the North Pole into our source Regions of Eastern Alaska and Western Canada. I expect an active pattern of colder and unsettled weather to continue into the mid December timeframe across our Region. We will look closer at the potential pattern when we transition to the Winter 2016/2017 thread in the days ahead.

Well I hope Thanksgiving was enjoyable for all. I am back from three days in east Texas. Was greeted with a huge wave of thunderstorms Tuesday into Wednesday making my visit a muddy one. Food was great and the Cowboys continue to whoop butt. Good times. Just checked out JBs maps and they continue to show all sorts of pretty colors for December. When the heck are we going to see some serious cold come our way? Winter is here and I am more than ready. Can't wait for the forum to have some serious storm watching.

It's been so long since it's been cold in NW North America. More like 2013-2014 winter but alas we have some anomalous cold in the source region. It's going to build and by mid month most of the western half of North America will be frigid. Need a mechanism to dislodge it to Texas.

Rain and 40s next weekend but otherwise mostly normal temps which would be 60s/40s. Has low 70s when it had arctic air yesterday(at 300 hrs). Coldest temp at DFW is a mere 39.

It is possibly a malfunction.

The 0z will come out in 3 hours. It might show something different.
