First BIG Cold front of the season for them, with some snow showers across the Great Lakes area.

Maybe we can watch an NFL game in October snow.

That's about what the GFS had been predicting last week. I'm beginning to wonder if IAH will register a low below 50 this month. Heck, maybe we won't see a temperature below 50 all winter?

I'll take that bet! You're telling me Houston doesn't get below 50 all winter? :cheesy:

I'm growing a little more confident in next week's cooler/rainy pattern projections. GFS and Euro remain consistent in what they're showing. Euro is much wetter however for us in SC Texas. Hope King Euro is sitting on his throne by late next week.

The weather guy this morning said that the humidity got as low as 10% yesterday here! That's dryer than a normal day in El Paso!!

Hopefully based on Porta's post, we will be looking at rainy/stormy/cool Pacific Northwest conditions next week!

There is a small amount of hope for next Wednesday. It's 7 days out, so take it with a grain of salt.

Moving in the right direction for more drought-stricken areas...at least for this run. :ggreen:
I like seeing lighter blue, purples, and reds.

From the FWD AFD:

THE UPPER RIDGING FINALLY BEGINS TO BREAK DOWN EARLY NEXT WEEK AS
A STRONG SHORTWAVE MOVES INTO THE WESTERN U.S. THIS WILL RESULT
IN A TIGHTENING PRESSURE GRADIENT ACROSS NORTH TEXAS AND
INCREASING SOUTHERLY WINDS. WE SHOULD SEE AN INCREASE IN CLOUD
COVER LATE MONDAY AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL BEGIN TO MOVE
SOUTH THROUGH THE PLAINS. THIS FRONT SHOULD MOVE INTO THE AREA
LATE TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING AND BRING OUR HIGHEST
RAIN CHANCES THAT WE HAVE SEEN IN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. AN
EVEN STRONGER SYSTEM IS POSSIBLE TOWARD THE LATTER PART OF NEXT
WEEK AND COULD USHER IN SOME OF OUR FIRST TRULY FALL WEATHER.

The humidity and dew points need to rise fast because the wildfire in Bastrop is only getting worse. The smoke is filling the eastern and northern sky across Austin. I took several pictures from my yard of the smoke layer this evening.

This is affecting peoples homes, property and lives. It was reported earlier today that the fire was 50% contained, but by this evening, officials reported that it has grown in area and intensity and is only 10% contained. 2,500 acres have been burned from what I last saw and unfortunately it's only going to get worse.

It's going to keep burning until we get some good rain and it can't come soon enough. Despite how large this fire has gotten, it's nowhere near the size of the 2011 Bastrop Complex fire which burned more than 30,000 acres. Still, it's something we were hoping we would not see for a long time and unfortunately it is. Keep the people of Bastrop in your thoughts and let's hope this fire is not as destructive as 2011 when all is said and done.

Well said. I was hoping not to see this kind of thing for a long time, especially in an El Nino.
We could smell the smoke tonight around 8:15 at the Mopac and 183 area.

I can smell smoke here in Rockwall from the Bastrop fire. Hopefully they can get it under control today.
