The second AL long tracker was like Bassfield but not quite as wide. 230 mph GTG shear. The Newnan storm was also pretty strong, massive debris ball after it hit

EF-5 Winds! Could this be the first EF-5 Tornado since 2013?

Like the Greensboro twister. Except not quite as large. It was not a wedge but it was close at being a mile wide. Most likely a Stovepipe. It had Echotops of 52000 feet at one point and a Debris ball even more clear than the greensboro twister at times.

I don't know if it hit anything to cause EF5 damage... But it's true strength was probably pretty close at one point. There's been several since 2013 that have likely been EF5 but didn't cause the damage to get that rating

It was making contact with structures while it had that g2g shear. Keep in mind that the g2g shear was maxed out so the storm likely could have been stronger!

How long does it take before a NWS-Survey is done?

I just don't know if any of those structures would be strong enough to get the EF5 rating. But I also haven't found a ton of pics of the damage for that one. And since it was on the ground for 100 miles, there's gonna be a lot of damage. That tree damage is insane

It usually takes a few days to get the preliminary rating, and then a few more to get the final rating . Probably will take longer since these were on the ground for so long

An Ef5 would rip the road up so if it crossed any roads that would be indicative of an EF5 twister if it did rip up the road.

My personal prediction: ALERT THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL RATING! Greensboro tornado EF5. Birmingham twister EF3-low EF4. Newnan - Peachtree city tornado mid EF4(need more pictures to be more accurate however). Greensboro tornado path obliterated an industrial building and scoured the road and ground.

Tearing up the roads is definitely a EF-5 Tornado, the Philadelphia, MS EF5 in 2011 ripped down up 20-inches of topsoil, literally . . .

I think it's too early to start speculating about the potential rating of a particular tornado, especially since we don't have a full understanding of the damage that may have been caused. The NWS will hopefully have the opportunity over the coming days to investigate and release a preliminary rating - both the Birmingham and Atlanta offices plan on starting their surveys today.
