They don't want to make their forecast look bad since they missed this one :cold: Even Delkus admitted it was sleeting and expects NO icing of bridges and roadways in the metro area..

Very hard to predict but these type systems produce more often than modeled or forecasted so I always like to watch for them. During winter N TX has seen some pretty decent snows out of very similar systems when little more than flurries were forecasted.

I was in Los Angeles last winter, and from what I’ve read, I didn’t miss much. I’m back until February though, so hopefully this winter delivers.

Sleet is currently falling in Cedar Hill! Certainly a good start.

...FIRST FREEZE OF THE SEASON IS POSSIBLE EARLY SATURDAY MORNING
FOR PORTIONS OF THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY...

The combination of dry air, near calm winds, and clearing skies
across portions of the Hill Country and the higher elevations of
the Southern Edwards Plateau will allow temperatures to fall in
the low to mid 30s early Saturday morning. If conditions look to
become colder, the Freeze Warning in effect for portions of the
Hill Country may need to be expanded overnight.

Please protect any sensitive plants, pets, livestock, and pipes
that could be susceptible to the colder conditions.

Another round of near to below freezing temperatures is expected
again early Sunday morning also.

NAM is faster with front on Mon night with 0C 850s in the higher ground of NW and parts of W Texas. Wouldn't be surprised if some wintry pellets then either out that way. Shortwave is kicking out of the southwest. If temps were a good bit colder it would make for a fun scenario. Perhaps the same set up but a few weeks later.

But for sure a cold rain coming for trick or treaters

Finally got cool enough the past few days(minus today) to wear my Texas coat(considered a jacket in Ohio) Had some sleet fall on Tuesday(They actually issued a special weather statement). Got a pretty big game here this weekend, I'll be out early(or late) to get in line for College Gameday That's about when we're supposed to get some cold rain, which might last through the game. We also have a slight chance for snow Late Saturday, Early Sunday. I bought a 24" Ruler(I wanted a yardstick but it wouldn't ship through Amazon) I thought, "How am I supposed to justify willing a big snow storm if I have nothing to measure it with?" I'm hoping it works!

Its going to be battle of SE Ridge and -EPO. Will the cold in Canada be bottled up or bleed out? I take a blend of the two. Transient warmth but eventually cold beats guidance.

Hard to stay warm long with -EPO

Euro control is fun, it takes the D10 trough and goes McFarlandish with it dumping big time cold down into Texas. Then it leaves some energy back in the SW before kicking it out across the state with snow from the Hill Country up across DFW. :cold:

Also, the wife said that we picked up some sleet at the house today. I was stuck out in New Mexico where it was high and dry... Just once, I would like to score a snow storm on a trip to NM.

DFW got as low as 34F this morning. Many outside areas got a freeze. Cold air beat the models.

Whew, couldn't even make it through the show. I got to College Gameday at 3 AM(I wasn't expecting the rain to scare everyone away) the line was short(It was about 400 people long at the same time when they came last year) unfortunately my feet were beginning to hurt and my walk home was long so I had to head back before It hurt too much to walk. It began sleeting as a left and snow will probably mix in pretty soon. It actually got colder than expected, It was 45 degrees when I left my room at 2 AM and at the time they weren't forecasting it to go below 39 but it's actually 35 degrees right now. :cold:

Actually DFW hit 39 between 11-12pm last night which makes the low temp for yesterday 39F and today 34F.

KAUS hit 30s as well and Houston may join in later tomorrow morning

All this bodes well for December. As in a previous post years that dip this cold in October correlates to some kind of winter blast in December.
