I wonder why we have not seen many super cells. Only one is the small one in southern Alabama. Had a couple earlier, but they quickly became linear. Are the parameters not as favorable as advertised?

For south la, like ptracker said, we never got any of the strong southerly winds that were forecast. On top of that it was cloudy, foggy, and cool through noon. Remember reading from the nws they were saying the Marine layer boundary had capped things and that wasn't forecast . So it took longer for things to get going today. Also the main severe squall line that was forecast to develop never happened.

That being said my wife did have the tornado that hit prairieville go right over her. She was sitting at the intersection on 42 and 61 headed home when it hit.

WPC surface analysis at 0Z tonight shows the 995 mb Low now over extreme Northeastern Louisiana currently. Storm system now beginning to intensify. Expect another squall line to develop overnight across MS, AL and down into the Florida Panhandle, right in that warm sector and into that immediate strong southerly wind surge, which is really creating very strong low level wind shear, very conducive for tornadoes. The threat shifs eastward during early Wednesday. This could be a potentially dangerous night of tornadoes and severe weather across the Deep South. Unfortunately, we have already had tornadoes in Louisiana and Mississippi earlier today.

Watch that tail end squall line extending from Central Alabama southwest to just east of Slidell, LA currently. That is the line I am watching overnight as it moves east. This area will have the potential to provide possible severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. The MCS out ahead of the main squall across the Florida panhandle has already produced the severe weather near Pensacola earlier this evening. Also, another potential damaging squall line is approaching the Jackson, MS area.

Yes, I am getting multiple reports and requests for assistance. Cars and trucks thrown off I-10 bridge. Reports of homes and apartments destroyed with some chasers transporting people to hospitals. People trapped. 2nd tornado in Pensacola in the last few months. Trying to get word from our members in the area as well as warning them on twitter.

I am working the twitter feed tonight. Just got word from Ivanhater that he is ok. All the reports I am getting are not good at all. I expect a minimum of several fatalities in the Pensacola area. I HOPE I AM WRONG!!
