I believe Massachusetts has VERY strong building codes, and the ratings may need to be adjusted based on those.

I would say from radar returns, that would be a very good estimate.

People here should know by now that you can't determine intensity from radar returns or initial damage reports. Only a survey team on the ground after the storm can do that.

Key word from me was the word estimate. I know you need a team to do the surveys, but for our sake, we can start somewhere without people around here thinking we have a Joplin-esque intensity on our hands.

Yeah, that was definitely no Joplin, although it was very intense, especially for the region. It may have been one or multiple tornadoes as well.

That was a pretty big tornado for MA! The pictures of the funnel looked like it was a strong one.

Just proves that these things don't just hit cornfields folks.

Oh yes, include Philadelphia, PA in that list. An EF0 it last week...

And the year is less than half over. Although there aren't USUALLY that many tornadoes in the summer and early fall, a number of landfalling Florida or Gulf hurricanes could change that.

Heard some weak tornadoes in Maine might add on to the tornado count for this outbreak once they are surveyed tomorrow, looks like we will have to wait and see what happens.
