Finally this storm gets a tornado warning... well over an hour after it should have originally gotten one. Luckily almost no one lives in these areas... I've driven through them before. Very rural.

The big concern is how these storms will affect the busy Thanksgiving travel...since the evening will be really busy for those unable to take all or part of today off...

A tornado hit just NE of here late last night in Milton.

Pensacola News Journal wrote:A tornado trekked north from Interstate 10 through Milton and up to Munson late Wednesday night shattered windows and caused minor roof damage.

No injuries were reported.

Reports first came in at 11:12 p.m. of a tornado just north of the interstate and west of Avalon Boulevard. Subsequent reports indicated the tornado traveled northeast with the bulk of the damage along U.S. 90 and Stewart Street in Milton.

A tornado warning had been issued for the area and was lifted at midnight.

Milton Police Department Sgt. Jino Catalfu said he was following the tornado when it crossed U.S. 90 near Parkmore Plaza.

“It wasn’t like the black one that hit Pensacola,” Catalfu said. “It was white, almost like a water spout. It was about 15 to 20 feet in diameter. It was really tight and was cooking right along.”

About 1:30 a.m., Ernie and Barbara Spicer were boarding up the Allstate Insurance office on U.S. 90 owned by their son, Darren Spicer, who was vacationing in Tennessee.

The tornado shattered the front door of the building, blew out a floor-length window and ripped tile and insulation from the ceiling.

“It’s going to be tough getting this fixed over the holidays,” Ernie Spicer said.

Santa Rosa County spokeswoman Joy Tsubooka said a family of three adults and one child on Pat Brown Road in East Milton was displaced and was assisted by the Red Cross.

The tornado reportedly damaged their mobile home’s windows and doors. A brick wall at a residence also collapsed, Tsubooka said. A trailer on Country View Lane also was turned over.

Two women were working at Lifeguard Ambulance Post 8 when the tornado struck and blew out the front window. Shards of glass were scattered along Margaret Street and the east wall of the building appeared to have buckled.

On Stewart Street, Terence Merrell was removing merchandise from his skateboarding store, Beyond Board, where the tornado caused roof damage and collapsed ceiling tiles.

“I didn’t even know there was a tornado coming,” he said. “It wasn’t even that windy.”
The building where Merrell’s store is located is owned by Milton Mayor Guy Thompson.

Across the street, J&D Cleaner owner Cory Stephens was checking for damage after the tornado ripped his air conditioner vent off the roof. A tent awning Stephens had erected at his store was found two blocks away at the old Berryhill Administrative Complex.

“We were very fortunate,” Stephens said.

The Spicers, Merrell and Stephens said they were notified by police of damage to the businesses after the tornado triggered their security alarms. Businesses without alarms weren’t notified and the extent of the damage was not apparent in the dark early Thursday morning.

There were unconfirmed reports of damage to a home on Santa Cruz Boulevard north of the interstate but none was visible. Nearby, downed limbs could be seen on Tinsley Road. There were also reports of damage in Munson but that could not be confirmed either.

Catalfu said he followed the tornado to Berryhill (Street) where it “just disappeared over the river.”

Would they survey it today, knowing staff is probably lower at NWS offices due to the holiday?

I heard the survey may be today or early next week. I'll have to find the link to that.

Found it:

I found the survey: NO tornado. It was a microburst.
