You know it's interesting you mentioned avoiding the torch. I checked monthly climate summaries for my area, and so far, we are actually running below-average on temperatures for the whole year! Of course we are now just in March, but with a week of well-below average temperatures coming soon, this will certainly make it more difficult for March to end up above-average on temperatures. I say keep it cooler all year, just not frigid!

A chance, you say?

I know a lot of people (one family who went to my college) who live in Winterset, Iowa. I hope they are okay, just seeing a wedge went through or close to town...

Unfortunately it appears the large wedge in IA today caused some fatalities. 6 confirmed in Winterset, IA... Heartbreaking

I am wondering if this may be the start of a long spring tornado season? With cold weather returning well into March, I am wondering if we may see some major outbreaks in April and May?

0z GFS still showing some colder air moving in towards the end of next week. Looks like it would be pretty short lived as the warmer air/moisture return begins again a few days later.
And I'm just gonna ignore 3/17 on this run and just assume it'll be gone by the next run

Some decent ensemble support for some winter wx from N. Texas up into E OK. Chances improve as you head towards NE OK.

Front seems to be dragging it's feet. The humidity is already getting on my nerves.

The storms in the panhandle right now almost look like supercells, with temps in the 20s that's crazy. Also models seem to be slowly trending towards a storm with this weeks arctic front. If that trough can dig more south we could get a nice snow event out of it.

Doesn't seem like the precip is going to be all that across DFW with this system, models have been over playing the precip game for a months now it seems, 80% coverage of .10-.20 just isn't going to cut it with this drought.

Everything blows up once it gets east of us. I’m sick of it
