If it helps it didn't rain here either though there is a decent airmass this morning

And there was a grass fire the other day in front of my work :double:

NWS FTW Long Term Forecast

Southern plains ridging will prevail into
next week with rain chances remaining below 10% through the entire
extended forecast period. There is no sign of a significant
pattern change in the next ~10 days.

Where is Wxman57? I put this on him. Did he get an influx of money to build his wall sooner and higher this year?

This is some serious bs. Once we get out of this absurd pattern, hopefully we transition to cold quickly. Luckily my daughter and I fly to Boston Tuesday and visit the city then spend a couple days in New Hampshire traveling the forests looking at fall foliage. Weather looks nice and cool. Can't wait

I have been patient because I knew we would have to pay after the late summer pleasantness. The debt comes due.

But, this is getting a little concerning now. I think we are approaching about 3-4 weeks of this stagnant pattern? We need something to break this.

Basically the eastern 2/3 are warm while the far west is cool.

The GFS finally shows some fronts getting into KS and OK again, but TX looks screwed.

Ensemble guidance is in agreement on the - PNA finally releasing its grip over texas in the medium range, looks like we get a change in that teleconnection such as a + PNA setting up over the west coast of the US, got a strong - NAO block over greenland and canada, we also got a big typoon in the west pacific that should recurve east of japan, hopefully all that is enough to force a large scale change over NA

The lack of rain in Central Texas is concerning. Just when it seemed like we'd catch up with a wet spring/summer. I think September was 4th driest on record for Austin Mabry (0.08 inches).

We're 8 days into October and no significant rain recorded or forecast for next 7 days. Sept (#4) and Oct (#2) are two of the wettest months with only May/June ranking higher. Sept normally gets 3.45 and Oct 3.91 inches.

Real fall cold is highs in the 60s. This is kind of absurd. Normally we’d have some nights in the 50s by now.

Even with the "cold front" we're still above normal

We suck :spam:

I keep looking at day 10 for a real front and I swear it's not getting any closer

I do think changes across the Pacific will shake up the pattern across North America out beyond day 10. Light at the end of the tunnel.

Some hopeful signs on both the GFS and Euro, but the concerning part is we are talking the very end of the run, basically around October 23rd or later. That's a long ways away....

We should see a trend toward more high latitude blocking in Alaska and greenland as a strong typoon recurves east of Japan, that should cause a big large scale shift in the pattern over NA, I believe models and ensembles are struggling to resolve this issue, just my opinion though
