I was so disappointed when I first looked here this am and NOT ONE pic was to be seen (just a request for a disappearing line screen capture  )

Your yard is lovely weatherdude and so much greener than I was expecting.

Thanks SaskatchewanScreamer. :D We inherited a rose garden from the previous owner. Bit off more than I could chew! It's morphed over the years into more of a lower maintenance/lower water yard as the less hardy roses have died despite my efforts. Low maintenance/low water is preferred for me and necessary in an area with regular droughts.

Yeah, you'd be surprised how green it can get. I forget sometimes when we go weeks/months without a drop of rain. Here's to more rain on the way! :D :lightning: :rain:

Ditto! We picked up another inch or so at the PWC with the late evening squall line. That brings the 24-hour precip total at the PWC to 3.04 inches. Three inches of rain!!! :cheesy:

And I see more coming this morning. :D

WOOHOO! :D Congratulations! Here's to more on the way! :rain:

The storms weakened as they reached us, we are only getting sprinkles here now.

Our sprinkles turned into a light to moderate rain that gave us another .2 inches, so the ground is getting a good soaking.

What a difference a year makes. Currently in the mid 40s at DFW during heat of the day with the drizzle and breeze it's certainly cold and raw for April. One year ago today DFW was being hammered by a local tornado outbreak and large hail.

FW has a great page on the event that mostly effected the I-30 corridor between Arlington, Dallas, Kaufman/Rockwall counties onward northeast. 17 official tornadoes touched down in North Texas.

Just saw this. Looks like you all in the Dallas area and your neighbors in Oklahoma and Kansas may be in for some Spring action next week. They're comparing it to the outbreak of 1979. Still a ways off to see what happens.

http://www.weatherstorm.net/2013/04/03/ ... map=%5B%5D

It is becoming increasingly we could see something very significant in Tornado Alley early next week. All parameters look to be coming together for what we call a “Classic Dryline Supercell” event across TX and OK on Monday. We could see all modes of severe weather; tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging winds. We are also looking into the threat for maybe the possibility of a few “significant” tornadoes on both days of April 8th and 9th over populated areas such as Wichita Falls, Oklahoma City, and Dallas/Ft.Worth.
Some forecasters are comparing these conditions to the Red River Valley Tornado Outbreak of April 10th, 1979.

Yeah, hearing more and more about early next week. Take the rain, skip the significant tornadoes in populated areas.

Maybe a few out in a farmer's plowed field to make the chasers happy. :)

In reference to the idea that the potential severe weather setup for early next week resembles the one that produced the violent April 1979 tornadoes in Wichita Falls, Vernon and Lawton, I came across this interesting tweet a few moments ago:

"“@NWSFortWorth: The high at DFW today was 55F at 1:39 am CDT. This ties the record lowest high temperature for Apr 3, set previously in 1979. #dfwwx #txwx”"

And San Antonio received another .25 inch today so now they are only .50 inch below normal for the year.

From 28 to 108 wow. From snow, to ice, to rain, to heat we got it all. Our great state is one large weather laboratory, crazy.

Cold front moved through south Cedar Park/North Austin at 6:40-6:42am. Heard gust on house! Dropped from 70 to 59 degrees in 20 minutes! :D :cold: And it is raining. :) :rain:

Edit: Dropped 20 degrees in ONE HOUR (70 to 50). I saw at one point yesterday they were saying it was 28 degrees in the panhandle and 108 degrees in the valley during the same hour. Only in Texas! :cheesy:

April 10 and a windy 45 degree day in Dallas. Light snow from Amarillo down close to Midland. According to radar, frozen precip in Oklahoma. Amazing for mid-April. Could be one of the coldest Ranger games ever if it is not cancelled. 1 pm start. I think these temps are a little lower than first thought and might be cutting into rain amounts in North Texas. Hard to get good thunderstorms when it feels like winter outside.

What an awesome two days of weather in Texas! God, this is why I love Texas weather so much. I just love this dynamic cold frontal systems. We had nearly an 80-degree temperature differential in the state yesterday at one point. We had snow, sleet, thunderstorms, possible tornadoes. All in one state at one time!!

Today's cold front has dropped Austin temps into the mid 40s. Windy with showers ... feeling like winter again.

My son in Lubbock has texted me several times this morning to indicate falling sleet and snow on the Tech campus. In mid April, no less.

Ah ... now this is how you make a cold front! Cheers Wxman57! :cheesy: :D

I remember when I was up at Tech, it was snowing on Easter Sunday, in April. Most awesome site to see out my dorm room window that morning! :D Snow in April in Lubbock not out of realm of possibility up there.

Yeah, the weather diversity across this state is what makes it such a great place to study the weather! :ggreen:
