Tornado Watch 48 (East Texas/Louisiana) will likely be extended and replaced by a new Tornado Watch, not dropped when it expires.

Note: these are not official forecasts, just my predictions.

This is what I think the areas of risk are this afternoon and evening:

Image

I've shifted it somewhat to the east and south, with greater risk closer to the southern Appalachians as well as the afternoon rolls along. Greatest threat is in Mississippi, northern/western Alabama, northeastern Louisiana, West and Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky.

Tornado Watch 50 now issued - replaces Watch 48, for southern and eastern Louisiana, all of Mississippi except for the southeast corner and southeast Arkansas not in Watch 49, plus the Gulf of Mexico from Sabine Pass to Ship Island.

Based on the descriptions and probabilities, it is just under a PDS.

Notice some clearing in front of the squall line. Looks like a few rays of sunshine is peeping through in those areas.

Based on those pictures, that has to be at least an F2 tornado in Arkansas...

They briefly flashed them on the WMC live streaming coverage; haven't seen any online yet.

There is a meso headed straight for Evansville, on GRlevel3, does a red meso mean possible tornado?

Currently two TVS's - both in Mississippi, one in Marshall County (northeast of Oxford) and another in Attala County (near Kosciusko).

Is this becoming a tornado bust? Nothing extreme appears to be happening. Is more to come this evening?

I'm betting on something breaking out late afternoon/evening. As for here, it may be a severe weather bust-o-rama as long as we keep getting rain.

It means the radar is indicating rotation aloft... usually a meso doesn't produce a tornado, but occasionally it can.

ROFL at this!
