If this really is going to be a hot summer, I'm wondering if we have a possible Allen 1980 setup except this time it may be further north. I feel like the ridge is meandering around enough that a storm may be able to move further north eventually, especially with the consistent troughing on the west coast.

DFW and Houston were holdouts today 99F a piece, small wins. Tomorrow no holdouts for the major cities. Earlier in the week Saturday looked like the cooler day of the weekend but turns out may be the most oppressive accounting for humidity.

Even up here tomorrow a few days ago looked like less humidity and not bad and now there's heat advisories.. :spam: we're gonna pay for all that rain. Sunday is even worse with an excessive heat watch :spam:

The 00z GEFS does offer some hope in the longer range.

Might get 110-115 somewhere west of WF today. 110+ somewhere in the Panhandle tomorrow. 105+ up through western KS...in mid June. These would easily be annual hottest in August. Feels disgusting out there.

I'm not sure what's going on, but the SOI index is crashing. The heatwave may not last long because of this. The Daily SOI index fell the -13 last week.

I'm surprised no one mentioned it.

I mentioned last week it finally went negative but due to CCKW. Nina wave taking over now though with no more Pacific CCKWs. It means this current pattern is going to intensify with the longer wavelengths. We are getting a similar pattern that caused the record December warmth, except the summer version now. In December though the MJO was moving east, no mjo this go round.

Some people love heat & humidity, one of them is the teacher who I help at my summer job. She does get really cold really easily, so that might be the reason why she likes it.

I only found warmth and heat tolerable on vacation in cooler climates. Colorado and Wyoming, the 80s there were nice and was cool at night. The people here who say they love heat and humidity are usually saying it from indoors, with a perfect climate !

I'm ready for the next El Nino now. La Nina needs to go away for a while. Maybe I'll finally get my wish next year, as it's rather unlikely La Nina will stick around.

Oh man! Awful time of day to run! :sun: :firedevil:

I do my runs at 5-6am. But even then, it's so humid it feels like I'm swimming, and then I'm literally so drenched, I can wring out my shirt.lol

Yup. Pick your poison. I'm still running mid 7min pace but it feels like I have not run in months.
