That is actually rare for a cold front to clear DFW.
It appears there is yet ANOTHER front next week for the Southern Plains.

Not liking these continued weaknesses over the Southern Plains. If we keep getting fronts, I would not be surprised if we have a system spin-up in the Gulf like Alicia in 1983.

Not just that but if something can move into the Gulf it will be a problem most likely

Been a bust so far here in Wharton County. Forecast was calling for 7-10” with isolated 12-15”. Picked up about 2.75” altogether so far since yesterday. The rain never has been on the heavy side. Just light to moderate stuff.

I keep hoping that I will miss the rain, but so far that has not happened. My grass is completely out of control and I have no idea when I will be able to mow again. This is a insanely wet summer. Watch us beg for rain again in September.

Another afternoon with temperatures in the 70s and rain in July. I love this pattern!

Well, this is definitely still better than drought. I would rather have these cool temperatures than 100+ degrees. I just wish there was enough dry weather in between rainy days to keep my grass from being a foot tall.

I’ve been able to still cut the grass around my house. It drys out pretty fast around here.

It's been a while, so i thought I would pop in and say HI to all my S2K friends and hope everyone is well..
Not much of a summer thus far, and long range doesn't really hint on any big changes. Interesting to see how models will start handling Fall's outlook, I'm tossing my hat in on a wetter and colder than average Fall/Winter 21/22.

Saharan dust is beginning to move in to my region. This is really shutting off afternoon showers now. Strangely enough, this is actually a good thing for most. I might finally be able to get my grass cut in a few days.

Yep. Not even the Saharan dust has been able to completely shut off shower activity. The dominant pattern by far this summer has been wet.

Surely these storms are almost stopping at nothing.

Right. Having storms again today. I really doubt August is going to feature any type of dry weather at this rate. Normally, we might get an inch per week in July, but lately it has been raining about an inch a day. I am starting to think that this summer might try to make a run at being one of the wettest on record.

1st half of July is going to end up below normal temp wise for most all of Texas. A below normal summer is coming into focus and some of the best analogs for this coming winter are actually last winter

GFS, Euro, and Canadian ensembles keep things below normal for the next 10 days and even towards the end of their respective runs. We're passed the halfway point of Summer, especially for here. The pattern being shown on some of the tropical models favors cooler than normal weather for the Central U.S with a ridge to the west and east of us. As long as we don't get a prolonged bridge I think we will see continued near or below normal temps. What a great first Summer back in the Plains!

Unless things change, I suspect the story of this summer will be cooler and wetter than normal.

It really is pleasant, but makes me a little uneasy about the Texas coast, as some others have pointed out periodically. That ridge that the gfs wants to set up in the long range over the SE looks like it’s aligned to send anything that manages to get into the gulf right our way…

Re: Texas Summer 2021
Looks like after a minor heat wave it cools off again with rain chances next week. It's the pattern that keeps on giving. But all of you will have to enjoy it without me, starting tomorrow I go on a 2 week vacation in central Mexico starting in Mexico City and then visiting my in-laws in little Santa Clara, Guanajuato. Up in the mountains during the rainy season with storms nearly every evening followed by temps in the 50's by morning. Always nice to be there and enjoy the awesome weather, taking a break from the DFW summers. We couldn't make it last year because of Covid but we will not be denied again!!!
