1123 PM CDT Sat May 25 2024

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM CDT FOR NORTHEASTERN DENTON...NORTHWESTERN COLLIN...SOUTHEASTERN COOKE AND SOUTHERN GRAYSON COUNTIES...

At 1122 PM CDT, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located near Celina, or 14 miles northwest of McKinney, moving east at 35 mph. Weston is in the path of this tornado.

This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction is possible.

The tornado will be near... Celina and Gunter around 1125 PM CDT. Anna and Melissa around 1135 PM CDT. Van Alstyne around 1140 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Cannon, Weston, Tioga, White Mound, Farmington, Elmont, Lake Ray Roberts, Altoga, and Westminster.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night. Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. TAKE COVER NOW!

Hook echo went right over my hometown/family's house before wrapping up about 20-30 minutes later near Claremore, OK. PDS warned now

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Northwestern Hunt County in north central Texas... Northeastern Collin County in north central Texas... Southeastern Grayson County in north central Texas... Southwestern Fannin County in north central Texas...

* Until 1215 AM CDT.

* At 1136 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located over Melissa, or 9 miles northeast of McKinney, moving east at 50 mph. Anna is in the path of this tornado.

Fortunately, that cell *JUST* missed the far northern edge of DFW suburbs by a few miles (it tracked over a mostly still rural part of Collin County)

But yeah, definitely a nasty-looking cell.

Report of 150 injuries at the I-35/Lone Oak Rd truck stop. 7 more at a nearby marina.

LEO reported tornado touchdown near Blue Ridge a few minutes ago. 75 near Van Alstyn closed by high water.

That said, the timing couldn't have been worse, because this cell also passed over a rural area that's an major recreational destination for DFW residents (Lake Ray Roberts), and on a hot holiday weekend, so of course there would be many people out there.

You can see the tornado track across 35 on google maps before Lake Ray Roberts for sure :double:

That picture is of the Shell station that the chaser said was gone. Report of 150 injuries there (not sure if that also includes triage from the interstate). Here's a before image from Streetview:
