We were at the ballpark and the game had just started when they had to get all the kids huddled into the dugouts and everyone else ran for their cars or the little bit of cover that's out there. Huge cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain... after a little while, they postponed the games and everyone left.

There was flash flooding in Orange and power outages... not sure about anywhere else.

It was unexpected as the day before, nobody even had a slight chance of rain forecast for Wednesday.

Just checked the HGX radar. I can see the seabreeze boundary. Looks like it has already sparked a shower just South or Southwest of Winnie, as it slowly drives up I-45 towards my house.

Looking SE, I can see a nice cell of really tall cumulus, starting to get that cauliflower appearance. No rain beneath it yet, never studied cloud classification in depth, but it is bordering on being congesti...

That storm on Tuesday was a damn good one! Lots of wind with a few pine trees down along the road that I live on. Tons of limbs down everywhere. We probably got about an inch and half of rain out of it just south of Lake Conroe Dam.

Went surf fishing this morning and still a bit on the rough side but boy howdy, the water is down right beautiful....green to the beach and very clear.

And yes, the seaweed is coming in thick. I couldn't keep this stuff off of my line. I did manage one speck which I just got through eating for lunch. :cheesy:

So when is this wind going to let up? I've got a week in Galveston starting this Saturday and was hoping for some surf fishing. The surf is REALLY kicked up right now with the strong south wind.

It's raining here! Zero chance, according to everyone, but yet, a good shower coming down. lol

My sister has been running around Beaumont today and has been in scattered rain several times as well.

It's raining again. Gotta love it when you get more rain with a 0% chance than you sometimes do with an 80% chance. :P

Wind Advisory in effect for today! The Houston advisory says that gusts to 40mph are possible across the region. Also, they have raised today's rain chance to 20% for the coastal tier of counties.

We just had an isolated very strong wind gust rip through here (likely in excess of 40mph). It was strong enough to lift and toss a couple of large outdoor umbrellas, and also flip a heavy metal rack that was outside.

Yeah extreme, had to lower our pool umberella yesterday. Here's hoping that the GOM moisture keeps moving in and gives us some badly needed rain this weekend.

It's hot, dry and windy. I can see some scattered showers to my west on radar but i don't think we're going to get anything. NWS has us at 20% chance of rain everyday but i doubt we'll see anything. I had to break down and start watering the yard. If there's no rain i'm going to try to water only once every week to a week and a half. I'll water my flowerbeds more frequently.

Same here. While it certainly hasn't amounted to much altogether, we've had a bunch of short showers off and on several days this week. Enough that I haven't had to water my new shrubs that have to be watered every day. :)
There's still plenty of sun in and out of the clouds.

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Summertime Weather

I got lucky Friday, when a decent shower saved me from using the sprinkler over the weekend.

Will the storms in East Texas make it down today, and give the sprinkler a few more days off?

HGX AFD noted that parts of Southern Harris County and Galveston County have gone 25 days w/o rain.

The storms are slowly headed SSW into E Texas. It looks to me the cold pool will continue SSW and SW into across SE TX today. We need the rain along the coastal counties.

Yippeeeeee, we finally got a nice shower earlier today. My lawn and garden thank the heavens for sharing a little precip here. It's been exceptionally hot and dry so this bit of moisture is a much welcomed sight.

Lots of heavy rain around here. I got a good bit myself, but some spots are getting some really heavy rain, basically just sitting on top of them. KFDM had a rain rate of 4.52" per hour a little earlier.

Take a look at the NWS Storm totals. It looks like some spots around here have gotten up to 2 - 3 inches so far, but look around the Jasper area and west of Natchitoches... they've had a LOT more!

Storms trying to move into the Bear Creek Dome area in West Houston.. Lots of wind gusts, but only spitting blowing sprinkles right now. We need the rain - but no more wind!
