Re: Texas Fall 2025
Getting some faint rolling thunder all the way down here from the Denton cell.

Re: Texas Fall 2025
Pretty good consensus that super typhoon Neoguri will recurve well east of Japan, should have significant downstream effects over the upper air pattern over the US in the next 2 weeks, maybe a stronger fall front sometime early in october despite nothing showing on models

Fortunately, the cell did weaken some before getting into Denton proper.

In the meantime, we're still talking upper 90's across SC TX with possible heat advisories early next week when you factor in the heat index before our well advertised frontal boundary moves in.
Hopefully we get a little rain out of this boundary. Believe it or not we're still under drought conditions so every bit helps.

Unfortunately the long-range outlook is not pretty with most of the extended models having TX seeing below normal rainfall through much of October. Let's hope they're wrong and we can cash in with some good rain events over the next few weeks.

Re: Texas Fall 2025
NWS canceled the watch across DFW, appears the intensity has come down significantly as the storms reach Fort Worth and Dallas.

I took some photos of the storm from Ponder looking towards Denton.

It was pretty cool to watch. Thoughts of the overall storm structure by the time it was getting into Denton?

Re: Texas Fall 2025
Holy cow what a storm. All we had was a special weather statement and I recorded a 57 mph gust at 3:50 a.m. coming straight out of the south after the wind was literally out of the North. All my patio furniture is off my patio, and I can't discern any damage outside, but I wouldn't be shocked as the rain was literally going sideways and I could not see across the street from the intensity of the wind and rain. It woke up my whole family. The house was literally humming from the wind and intensity of the storm.

Re: Texas Fall 2025
CAMs have done a terrible job handling these overnight storms. Latest HRRR now has them persisting through early afternoon as they slowly drift SE, and possibly a massive temp bust for at least portions of DFW.
EDIT: That "Red sky in the norning, sailor's warning" saying is looking applicable too.

Re: Texas Fall 2025
In southern Denton County/Roanoke I picked up 2 inches overnight, but feel like it was probably much more. My gauge is almost taken over my trees and most of the rain was sideways. We have downed trees in the neighborhood. Looks like north of me towards Denton could have picked up 6+ inches.

Hoping we can get some rain Tuesday night/Wednesday morning here. Otherwise next two weeks still looks pretty dry. At least temps will be cooling off closer to normal by Wednesday.

Lots of thunder, but I had virtually no rain, as well as most of Tarrant/Dallas based on the radar estimates. That stuff up north was insane though. That hail a foot deep is the type of stuff you see in Colorado with higher elevation. Just nuts.

Re: Texas Fall 2025
New GFS gives Houston area about an inch of much needed rain. There have been widely scattered storms about for several days, all have avoided my yard.
After, I will shake the hand of a 50F dewpoint.

The wild thing about that overnight storm, I think it was the only cell on the entire radar range. It didn’t make it to Arlington obviously, but I woke up for a different reason around that time and checked the radar just to see what was happening.

Re: Texas Fall 2025
5% tornado area added up here for late tonight/tomorrow morning. Also a 5% just to the east for tomorrow. Not what we usually see in September but could be an interesting couple days around here.

We got some more rain here with plenty of thunder, but mostly missed out on the severe/intense stuff.
And now it feels like Houston out there...

Re: Texas Fall 2025
After tomorrow, things steps down closer to climo, though probably above normal overall especially the southern half of the state.
Overall the continent hasn't cooled off too much, there's well above normal heights (ridging) in the interior of the continent. So we should ~normal to slightly above for a bit longer.

Currently 95/77 at DFW.
What's wild is I don't think we had a temp/dewpoint combo like that all Summer...
