Through 54h, the 12z GFS looks to be trending back towards the 00z run and away from the 06z run.

as a reminder, the ICON was by far the best performing model with the winter weather system 2 weeks ago. Most others, including NAM, were really bad. IMO, ICON has been the leader this winter season

May you live in interesting times. It seems the harder the Heat Miser tries to cancel winter, the colder it gets. :froze:

Had a pretty impressive thunder sleet shower that whitened even the street for a bit. Big pingers. Like small hail. Jagged edges too.

Not as good as 00z but a step back in the right direction from 06z.

More amped on GEFS. It’s so sensitive though that it’s getting annoying.

Yeah I think some of that is also sleet. Looks to be a very small window of opportunity for snow (maybe a quick 1-2 inches max) with both the GFS and ICON and so as usual timing is going to be key. NAM looked great last night but of course that was locked at 84. Just wonder if the northern branch energy phases too quickly with the energy coming around the SW and as a result flattens this out for much of anything across TX.

In other words...we've seen this movie before. Definitely going to be another short range/real-time scenario.

Canadian with more moisture than 00z but it has a torch at the surface. Column would support widespread 2-3 inches of snow, if surface temps were cooler.

At this point the upper levels look good. For NE TX, we will have cold at surface (near or below freezing), sub freezing at 850mb by afternoon though some warm nose possible below early on so likely some sleet before ending as all snow for along and north of I20. Amounts are very uncertain and I will assume less as trend has been this winter. Not a big event but a widespread 0.5 to localized 3" of sleet and snow for areas along and northeast of I-35 and I-20. As always will be watching Hi Res models for signs of possible convection in the cold air.
