We had a Black Wall of Doom storm to our SE last night which passed just south of me. TUS reported that they had reports of 1-3 inches of rain in 45 minutes under the core and there was serious flooding down there. We didn't get hit so bad but got enough rain to end July with 4.49in which is 0.67 in above normal-nice close to the month.

The real deal here tonight and in much of the south central area of Arizona. Major signifcant rainfall in some locations....not sure what I have accumulated but lots of horizontal rain and wind! Looks like a soaker for many areas of the valley previously untouched.

Monsoon storms hung around til late in the night yesterday, with over 2" in a wide swath from south of Sky Harbor Airport to northwestern parts of the city. I had blinding rains, literally blinding blowing horizontal rains for over 25 minutes that totalled 1.08" in about 90 minutes.

That puts my annual total at 10.04" so far, already well beyond the norm for an entire calendar year.

This was also the heaviest calendar day rain since January 3rd.

.68" of needed rain at my weather station on Tuesday. Heavier rains surrounded the Valley. An 8' wall of water swept a 7-year-old girl from land and she is still missing. Another person died as a result of the sudden floodwaters near New River, AZ...in far northern sections of the Phoenix metro area.

Another .99" here at the station today. Moderate rain for nearly 2.5 hours.
