Seems we've had some exceptionally active/strong lightning storms here these past few weeks.
I've also heard from customers in NC and NH of lots of damage from lightning during this time period.
Our own, personal webserver was a victim in Tx.
The very large webhosting company said they have all the protection in place, but still lost a hard drive with nearly 800 websites.
Anyone have any idea on the costs associated with live lightning data services, or personal detectors with screenshots going to a webserver?
the only one around here that I know of is flamedia.com Lightning Tracker. I'd love to see something more detailed or interactive available as a premium service that's not outrageously cost prohibitive.
I also know that http://www.weathertap.com/ has a service for $73/yr or $7/month. but that may be a bit high for most folks.
