AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM, AL
415 AM CST THU JAN 23 2003

JUST STEPPED OUT FOR A SEC...HAD A SNOW FLAKE HIT MY EYEBALL. SO
WITH THAT SAID...SNOW FLURRIES POSSIBLE THIS MORNING.

PREVIOUS...

BUNDLE UP KIDDIES!

OLD MAN WINTER DECIDED TO BRUSH A LITTLE DANDRUFF OFF HIS SHOULDERS
(SNOW) AS HE BEGAN HIS VISIT TO THE DEEP SOUTH. THE GOOD NEWS IS
IT WASN'T A LOT. THE SNOW BAND TRAVERSED THE STATE IN RELATIVELY
SHORT TIME WITH JUST A LIGHT DUSTING FOR OUR NORTH AND NORTHEAST CWA.
THE BAD NEWS IS THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF SOME MINOR ICING ON
BRIDGES AND ROADWAYS IN BLOUNT...ETOWAH...CHEROKEE...CALHOUN AND
CLEBURNE COUNTIES. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.

DO BELIEVE THAT THE WORD IS OUT ABOUT HOW COLD IT'S GOING TO GET. I
CAN TELL YOU THIS AFTER TALKING WITH SEVERAL EXPERTS WHILE STANDING
IN LINE AT THE GROCERY STORE YESTERDAY...SO I WON'T DWELL ON THAT TOO
MUCH THIS DISCUSSION.

I GUESS THE NEXT BIG THING TO SCARE THE MASSES WITH IS THE
RAIN/MIX/POSSIBLE SNOW ON SUNDAY EVENING. STILL TOO FAR OUT TO GO
OVERBOARD WITH...BUT IT COULD HAPPEN. SHOULD BE A RATHER SHORT
LIVED EVENT NO MATTER WHAT...WE WILL ONLY BE DEALING WITH A
FRONT...RATHER THAN A LOW WITH WRAP-AROUND MOISTURE.
