LaPlata, MD TOR...again

#1 Postby Scott_inVA » Sun Mar 30, 2003 12:21 am

SPC reporting TOR in LaPlata, MD...this is where a devastating F5...downgraded to F4 wiped out a school and many homes last year.

I did hear thru EOC folks tonight a tornado did touch down there tonight but have no ground truth to pass along ATTM.

Meanwhile, in Virginia tonight we had TOR Warnings, Winter Wx Advisories and a Winter Storm Warning for NC border counties all at the same time! Hard to believe!!

At 1PM Sat hit 77.5° (our highest reading of the year) in Lexington. We were giving the temp after announcing a winter Weather Advisory for tomorrow... that does not happen very often! Sunday's high here should be ~39° which is 39° below Saturday's high.

Fortunately, this should be an elevated snow event here with little accu. below 2,000' (maybe Huff gets 1 more day to play in the snow). Pretty weird.

Hmmm, can't get through to my grandmother, who lives just north of LaPlata. Keep me informed.
