URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 124
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
110 PM CDT THU APR 29 2004

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SOUTHEASTERN ARKANSAS
NORTHERN LOUISIANA
WEST CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
EAST CENTRAL TEXAS

EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 110 PM UNTIL
700 PM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 80 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST
OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES NORTH OF GREENVILLE MISSISSIPPI TO 65
MILES WEST OF ALEXANDRIA LOUISIANA.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.
PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING
WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE
WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO INTENSIFY AHEAD OF
VORT MOVING THROUGH THE LOWER MS VALLEY AS THE ATMOSPHERE
DESTABILIZES THIS AFTERNOON. SUPERCELLS WITH ISOLATED TORNADOES AND
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS WILL BE THE MAIN THREATS.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
500. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 25035.

Yesterday the thinking was those storms would be over us but today dry air filtered in and the storms have stayed to the north and east. Could see some severe weather down here on Saturday though.
