RECORD EVENT REPORT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FAIRBANKS AK
505 PM AST SAT NOV 8 2003

THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE AT THE FAIRBANKS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER WAS 28.3 DEGREES. THIS IS
THE WARMEST AVERAGE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR ANY 7 DAY PERIOD
DURING NOVEMBER IN A CENTURY OF OBSERVATIONS. THE PREVIOUS RECORD
WAS 26.6 DEGREES SET DURING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 6 TO 12...1979.
FOR COMPARISON...THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE FIRST WEEK
OF NOVEMBER IS ABOUT ZERO DEGREES.

Almost 30 degrees above normal ... in ALASKA ... in November. :o I'm amazed.

Yes...but check out their current temp and forecast-no more November warmth!!

True.... no more November warmth...but STILL above normal for this time of the year ....

On Nov 10...Fairbanks had a high of 30F and a low of 14F.
The average temperatures for this time of year are highs of 13F and lows of -4F.

So still 10-15F above normal....even though it definitely has been colder.

The extreme warmth has turned to extreme cold pretty quickly. Check out the low temps expected outside of Fairbanks, AK for the upcoming weekend. Possibly down to -40 degrees. :eek:
