What state leads the nation with the most EF5 tornadoes?

#1 Postby Alacane2 » Thu Jul 07, 2011 5:29 pm

ALABAMA

BIRMINGHAM-AL -
Alabama now tops the list for the most EF-5 tornadoes in the nation, since 1950.

Last month, the National Weather Service upgraded an April 27th tornado in DeKalb County from EF-4 to an EF-5 category to give the state seven EF-5 tornadoes since 1950. That's when the Weather Service began keeping such records.

Before that, Alabama had been tied with Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Kansas with six EF-5 tornadoes.
