Rain and COOL temps!

#1 Postby PTrackerLA » Tue Aug 12, 2003 10:21 am

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA
1001 AM CDT TUE AUG 12 2003

RADAR SHOWING AREA FAIRLY CLEAR OF PCPN AT THIS TIME...MAINLY EAST
OF LFT AND OVER THE GULF WHERE SCATTERED SHOWERS/TSTMS PERSIST.
PUTTING THE RADAR INTO A LOOP...CYCLONIC TURNING BECOMES EVIDENT.
GFS SHOWING SHARP UPPER TROF ABOUT TO CLOSE OFF INTO AN UPPER LOW
NEAR THE NRN END OF TOLEDO BEND. SURFACE ANALYSIS REFLECTS A LOW
OVER THE GULF SE OF 7R8 OR ABOUT 140NM OFF ATCHAFALAYA BAY.

H5 TEMPS AND H85 TEMPS MUCH COOLER THAN SEASONAL NORMS THANKS TO
THIS UPPER LOW. VISIBLE IMAGERY SHOWING SOME BREAKS BUT EXPECT
THESE TO CLOSE UP FAIRLY QUICKLY WITH DAYTIME HEATING. MESOETA
VERY MOIST WITH MEAN RH NEAR 80%. PCPN STILL A DECENT CHANCE BUT
WILL BACK OFF FOR POPS DUE TO A DELAY IN THE ONSET OF A FEW HOURS.

TEMPS WILL BE QUITE INTERESTING...WILL TWEAK TEMPS LOWER BASED ON
LATEST GUIDANCE...H85 FCST TEMPS AND EXPECTED CLOUDCOVER. WILL GO
81F FOR SRN TIER AND 82F FOR NRN ZONES...COULD BE SOME RECORD COOL
MAXIMUMS SET TODAY.

We deserve this after all the heat and hot weather we've been having. If only it would stay like this until October when the real cool stuff gets here!

It's only 75º here right now. So much better than those 90's. Cloudy right now but I'll take it. Anything to keep the temps down.
