It's funny how 1-3 inches of snow will cancel school when that amount is common here and they would never think to stop the buses, let alone close the building.

:uarrow: It's crazy, I know, but they do it anyhow. Seems really interesting how, at least north of the Carolinas, the further north you go the less school gets closed for snow.

Schools would close here if there was a trace on the ground.

:uarrow: "Well, what if some kid slips and accidentally falls on a gun? They'll sue us for sure!" *sound of superintendent closing school*

Not even that... A 10% chance would probably do it....Can you imagine a heavy snow here...The roads would be death traps...People would be just walking around in a trance...

My rule was always if I couldn't were shorts it was to cold togo to school...

4 snowflakes will hit land in Tampa Bay and schools in 9 counties will close.

And Fact, you're crazy. Shorts in snow? Anything below 70, forget it, I'm done. I'm freezing.

:uarrow: God, man! At this point I WISH I wore shorts today (and there's snow outside AND it's actually freezing).

I'm in Polk County right now, and I've got on a long sleve shirt and jeans. And I'm still kinda cold.

I'll break out the shorts when it is 35-40 in the spring.

Don't get me wrong, I love cold weather. In fact, the only thing I enjoy as much as a severe thunderstorm storm is a hard freeze. But I still consider anything below 70 to be pretty cold.

But I love it. Bring on the cold fronts!

You folks need hotter blood, my shorts haven't been put away yet, too early. Today it was beautiful here 29 degrees no wind, didn't have to wear my coat, just my sweater was great!Image

shorts in 29 degrees? That's just crazy! I mean I could probably do it if I was only going to be outside for a few moments at a time, but there is no way that I would want to do it if I knew I had to be exposed to the elements for more than say 2-4 minutes.

I never said I was wearing my shorts outside, though I did see a few folks in their shorts jogging today. I keep them handy when it gets to 40, then I can wear them.
