Southeast Louisiana Flood Event 10/22/2007

Hi Guys,
Thought I would start a topic for Southeast Louisiana flooding. Currently my house is surrounded by ponding water and another line of strong storms is about to move in. I am somewhat concerned because the ground is saturated and any additional rainfall should cause more flooding very quickly. I will keep ya'll posted throughout the night.

just had a fairly strong line of storms move through. The water around my house is now about 2-3 feet higher and much closer to the house. I am currently about 2.5-3 feet vertically higher than the surrounding water so I hope that the water begins to spread out and not continue to rise. I just checked the radar and another bout of moderate rain is on the doorstep so it's looking like a looonnnggg night.

Video of flooding in NOLA today. This area is just now recovering from Katrina and these businesses flooded again today!!!

lafayette only got .19" It seems it all formed south and east of lafayette. Stay safe and dry. I hope you don't flood. I have before and it's not fun.

It looks like the water is spreading out because it is not rising vertically anymore. It has flooded the streets in the subdivision and the surrounding fields look like ponds but I am hoping the worst is over and the water starts to drop in the next few hours. In this part of Louisiana we are surrounded by levees and most of the water has to be pumped out. It will take awhile (a day or two) for the pumps to catch up and drain the ditches. Right now it is raining but not very hard. I am about to go to bed and get up in a few hours to check on the water.
I really think that if we don't get any more of the 1-2 inch per hour rains I will be safe.
