Hail like golf balls, car like golf ball too

#1 Postby coriolis » Fri Aug 17, 2007 5:24 pm

We had a severe t-storm today with hail the size of golf balls. With the trees in full summer foliage, tons of leaves came down and the storm inlets all around my house got clogged within minutes. There was a river coming down my street and I had to quickly get out there and pick leaves out of the inlets to keep the water out of our house. Every car in town, including mine, is covered with dents. Numerous houses had broken windows too. Guess I'll be calling my insurance company on Monday. :x :x

Wow, that sounds more like Kansas than PA.

I've seen hail twice and never bigger then dime size.

Once in Philly in 1997

Once here in Jersey in 2001

Golfball size hail will put some dents in your car.

Wow that sucksola. I have seen quite a few hail storms here. And a few that caused alot of dented cars to be driving around town for weeks. Hail is fun to watch but once it gets bigger than a tater tot it becomes very dangerous. Good luck with the insurance peeps Ed.

Biggest hail I have heard of in my area is 3 inches. I was asleep when it happened though...

I've seen baseball size hail. Tore my car up and broke windows in the house, camper, and trailer. Busted the mirrors and tail lights on the cars. Six inches on the ground and left a wicked fog that you couldn't see through.
