Drought may worsen in SE

#1 Postby txwatcher91 » Thu Jun 21, 2007 1:35 pm

Unfortunately, it appears that the drought in the SE may worsen this week as a ridge of high pressure begins to build over the SE. CPC is also showing below normal precip for most of the south this week and also next week. My yard was almost completely dead this week from the lack of rain, and it appears that things will only get worse.

Coupled with the fact, that the Bermuda High is expected to expand into the Southeastern States starting Friday, June 22nd ... already the triple digit word is being mentioned in the Charleston area for SAT-SUN and Heat advisories/Excessive Heat potential ...

This scenario, unfortunately, is reminding me of the Summer of 1986 ... particularly July when KCHS reached or exceeded 100º 13 separate times ... including what was then the all time record high of 104º on July 19th-20th ... the heat indecies were into the 120's ...
