South Florida very dry!!!

In my area, that front did absolutely nothing in terms of rainfall. Still, the lawns don't yet look that bad. I've seen worse.

You know, maybe we wouldn't be in such a dire situation, if the SFWMD didn't mindlessly flush water out to sea during the wet season, IN ADVANCE of tropical weather and other predictions of heavy rainfall. That is so wasteful. "Flood control" isn't worth these constant "droughts" we experience. I don't think they are really droughts at all - if we didn't literally throw our fresh water away, I think we'd be in fine shape to cope with dry seasons and even below-average wet seasons.

Flood control.....hmmm, well maybe all the morons in charge shouldn't have let developers (who don't give a rat's you know what about anything but the health of their bank accounts) build vast housing developments and strip malls in what used to be....SHOULD BE.....swamp.

We are going to see the folly of what has been done to South Florida, and it's going to be a very tough awakening. I don't know whether it's going to be a severe dry spell leading to very serious water problems, major hurricane, or both, but it's coming.

With the exception of extreme South Florida, The rest of Florida has gotten extremley dry as shown by the KBDI chart.:

And it looks like the whole of Florida has now dried out again with only minimal, brief chances in sight. There have been consistent fast-moving tropical-type showers down here at the extreme southern end of Miami-Dade, but it looks as if that's going to dry up now and in the next 7 or so days.

I have a feeling this "wet season" is going to be pretty disappointing, and that we are going to get to the point where we NEED a few tropical systems in August-October to even things out.

once again the gfw and name models are over axagerating a little over a possible low forming and then crashing into the florida peninsula by mid-late next week. if this atempts to do so. it most likly will be torn apart by a cool front aproaching from the nations heartland and more likely breeze on by friday june 1st. but lets see what happens.

Welcome to Storm2K WEATHERMANIA! I would gladly take a torn apart low pressure along a cold front vesus the WIND and heat at this point. I think it's going to be awhile before we have a real tropical threat. I would love a trough to setup and push some moisture northward though. The GFS has had some dreamy teaser runs for Floridians alrighty..

I saw an article in our local paper today that showed a picture of LO with huge cracks in the bottom in an area where the water should be 5' deep. How far down is the lake?
The story was about them demucking the SW portion of the lake while the water is gone.

Looks like the project can continue until the water is back up to 10.5' and is now about 4' below average.

Not much deep water down here. I was at a nearby lake called Tafford recently and it's to shallow for most boating with no more rentals until the waters rise.. Gators Galore..

I would assume it has been in the past. It's clearly on radar and I saw some impressive footage last night. All of those tall reeds and grasses dried up sounds like good fire fuel.. I did see a post someone mentioned it set the record yesterday.. The old record low was in May 2001 of 8.97 and the new record as of yesterday 8.94 and dropping until the weekend at least..
