The -NAO is expected to turn negative by the end of the month, the EURO and GFS ensembles look promising, and the forecast for the AO is for it to tank. There is a possibility of the flow actually slowing down, and not being so progressive, perhaps allowing a sustained +pna ridge. Of course, thats just speculation right now. One thing is for sure, Alaska is starting to get very cold, and it will be only a matter of time for that to potentially move southward.

I don't think I have ever seen a map like that. I wonder if February will show a map just like that but with most of the nation in the below normal range?

I think the southern half of Florida is done with cold fronts for a while. It should be spring already since the eastern half of the country has been in spring mode since Jan 1st.

Just saw where a lot of North Central Alaska has a wind chill advisory. For AK to have a wind chill advisory, it's got to be cold.

...WIND CHILL ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AST THIS

THE WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AST THIS
AFTERNOON.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT LOW WIND CHILLS TO 50 BELOW ZERO
ARE EXPECTED. IF GOING OUTDOORS...BE PREPARED. BE CAREFUL TO
COVER ALL EXPOSED SKIN.

MAN! Wind chills have to be 50 below zero. OMG! :froze:
