It is still about 36 hours from the expected onset, and probably 12-18 hours from it being really learned what is probably going to happen!

The NWS says anywhere south of I-80 could recieve 5- 7 inches by Thur. Night. However, if the system slows down, it could increase to around 8 or 9 inches. It also depends on the thunderstorms in TExas, stealing the system's moisture. Kansas is definitely going to get pounded, upwards to a foot, maybe more, by finish Thur. Night.

Probably will know more later, when the NWS issues their 4pm ZFP/Discussion.

Today, particularly tonight, through Friday morning may be the big snow event in Omaha!! Very prolonged snow event from this morning until Friday morning. Some snow totals may be well over a foot perhaps in some spots approaching a foot and a half!

The ETA has progresively taken the heavier snow accumulation totals from Cntrl/Srn Kansas and shifted that progressively nwrd into sections of srn and ern Nebraska. The Latest UKMET appears to also be trying to displace heavier accumulation farther n.

Winter storm warning issued here continues Thursday through Thursday night. By Thursday evening, total snow accumulations will range at least 8" and perhaps much more in the I-80 corridor from Lincoln to Omaha and Council Bluffs.

A winter storm will move into the plains today, spreading snow across ern Nebraska and sw Iowa beginning early this morning. While an inch or 2 of snow is possilbe with the morning round of snow, the more significant accumulation snow will commence late this afternoon and continue through Thursday night. Although the snow may become heavy at times, a long period of light to moderate snow will allow accumulations to reach up to double digit amounts most areas. As the snowfall begins to taper off early Friday, N to NW winds of 15-25mph w/ higher gusts will cause blowing and drifting snow through the day Friday.
