This was a snippet from the GSP AFD this morning, and thought it was very interesting, especially in regards on how well the temperatures were handled last week ...
WAS INFORMED BY ANOTHER OFFICE TNGT THAT THE ETA LAND-SURFACE MODEL
(LSM) CHANGES WENT INTO EFFECT ON 20 JAN. THIS IS GREAT NEWS...AND
THE ETA 2M TEMPS AND WET BULBS WERE MUCH BETTER WITH LAST WEEKS ICE
STORM THAN I RECALL SEEING BEFORE. WHAT ISN/T GREAT NEWS IS THAT
THE ETA WET BULBS FOR THE UPCOMING EVENT NEVER RISE ABOVE 30 IN THE
HEART OF THE COLD POOL. THE ETA AND GFS BOTH HAVE A STRONG TMB
NIBBLE THE EDGES OF THE COLD AIR ACROSS THE CWA MON AFTN...AS
MILLER-B SYSTEM BEGINS TO TRANSFER IT/S ENERGY TO THE SFC LOW OVER
THE LOW COUNTRY. WL SIMPLY HAVE TO WATCH THE TRENDS THE NEXT FEW
RUNS TO SEE IF THE MODELS ARE AS AGGRESSIVE W/TMB AS THEY ARE TNGT.
Changes to the ETA LSM model went into effect Jan 20th.
