Philadelphia Area Forecast:

#1 Postby iCez2003 » Mon Jan 26, 2004 7:54 am

Talking to other people as well as looking at the latest models (the 12z ETA should commence around 9, will tweak forecast then), but here goes:

Tonight moderate sleet will begin, this will last on and off through the night, meanwhile an EXTREMELY intense ULL will be diving down from the OV. This will dive far enough south to produce a significant/major snowstorm for Philadelphia area....

Tonight: 1-2 inches of sleet/snow/freezing rain

Secondary Storm: Mix bag changes to all snow, period of 6-12 hours of heavy intense snow, total accumulations of 8-12 inches

Total Storm Accumulation on the ground by end: 12-16 inches.

I expect 12z models to trend south with secondary development, the cold air in 50/50 is just too strong, thats why I even think Boston might get screwed a bit.... Enjoy!

icez - Normally I would say that type of forecast is wishful thinking, but the way things are trending you might end up being exactly correct.

Bring it on! 8-)

06Z GFS puched out some impressive QPFs - between 1.25 - 1.50 inches of liquid for central Jersey.

Also here is a little eye candy for later probably a GFS fantasy storm but nice to look at.
