Snow for the Mid-Atlantic Soon? Hopefully!

#1 Postby yoda » Tue Jan 20, 2004 1:52 pm

The latest GGEM and GFS models SEEM TO SUGGEST the possibility of a significant snowstorm for the DC area on the JAN 25-26. There are also indications of a much larger event for the East Jan 28-31.
What does everyone think about this?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

That seems to be something to watch for many. So far this year conditions have not really come together for the mid Atlantic for big snow. Patterns are changing and do suggest several possible events for the MA. There are a few other discussions about this on this board. wxrisk has a good deal of info on this, check it out. The potential seems to be better than in a while for us, we will see. Temps for the weekend are close and are bouncing all over the place. Every day they drop temps a cat or two, so that may not be an issue.

Yoda - looks like there could be a minor to moderate snow/ice event for your area on Sunday/Monday Jan 25-26. And if LC (Larry Cosgrove), DT (Wxrisk) and others are correct - there could be a major snow/ice event later next week. Definitely a situation that needs to be watched closely in the coming days! 8-)

Oh please let the Mid Atlantic have 36 inches!! Please..........with strong winds to blow it all over the place, and cold highs in the upper 20s to keep it around for about 10 to 14 days. Then I would go out on my jebwalks and enjoy it so much!!!!
