On Tuesday/Wednesday, the NE Corridor will get CLOBBERED! :)

#1 Postby Anonymous » Wed Jan 14, 2004 11:27 am

The early-week storm will give those of us down in the MA and south rain, but on a much better note, it will CLOBBER those of you farther north and east with hefty snows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Watch out New Jersey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First you will pile on the snow from this clipper, but this is only your big rehearsal......................

Just wait til Tuesday/Wednesday......................

A massive southern stream system will smash into your neck 'o the woods with anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

WOOOOOOOOOOO--HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)

What do you get when you cross a storm that dumps 1.5 to 2 inches of rain on the south and MA, with cold temps in the NE Corridor?

You get crazy snow to water ratios and spectacular, massive amounts of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

You folks had best hit the stores and buy shovels, snow blowers, and grub!!!!!!

Trust me on this: You'll need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out mountain ski resorts in places like New Hampshire!!!!! You think getting 5 feet of snow in one storm was something back in December?!!!

Think again!!!!!!!!! :) :) Cuz it may happen all over again come this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOO--HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)

ENJOY THAT SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Hey Jeb...don't buy the 84 ETA prog, if that's what you're basing this on. It's fishy. I still think there's a chance, but not with a positively-tilted southern stream trough like the GFS is advertising. The 12 GGEM basically gives up on the whole thing. Watch for the UKIE in a few hours. Also look at the GFS ensembles when they become available.

I just don't trust the ETA for this run.

It's still a possibility, but far from a probability.

Sorry Jeb, I think VA may get snow early on, but NE may bust on anything.

Don't know about weenie 'o the year...its early. Only thing the 12Z GFS shows is a potentially stormy pattern during the next couple of weeks. Will the vortex oscillate around eastern Canada for the foreseeable future....that's the question. Rule of thumb here in Florida is, if we're moderately cool here when there is frigid air in the NE, you have a lock on the cold air. When the cold fronts blast through here giving us near freezing temps in central FL, then its a rollercoaster ride (cold/warm) in the NE. Which really is just the result of the oscillation of the ridges/troughs/jet. Right now the NE looks to stay cold to seasonable for awhile. The pattern will change eventually, but good to be in the NE if you like winter weather. BTW, Metro areas should get a decent snow/wind event tonight/tomorrow am (4 - 8 a good bet). Still waiting for snow in Palm Bay 8-)

Jeb - is there a link to what you were looking at? What I've seen so far with the 12z run shows a storm going to the south of us next Tuesday-Wednesday.

It's funny how you people in the NE get worked up about snow when you see it all winter long. Its like me getting excited about 90 degree weather so I can go to the beach, I know it will come and just deal with it when it gets here. Just an observation, not an insult or anything like that.

The storm could go to the south too, but IMHO we should be watching it carefully. Probably a mixed bag to rain for VA. But if that moisture goes up into the NE, all I am saying is that the NE Corridor stands to get some serious snow from it (IF it should go up the coast).
