last thoughts of the night

#1 Postby WoodstockWX » Tue Jan 13, 2004 10:53 pm

came back for a sneak peek of the GFS and say the folks here going nuts with my thread...it will be removed shortly by myself.

my point was, a few on here were calling me names and making fun of my forecasts for using reasoning to back them up.

now the GFS has jogged back north as I predicted about an hour ago.

Will I be right?

Only time will tell, the point is, I did not mean to start a riot on here, I was just offended by a few who were calling me "pimple faced teenager" or not being able to forecast because I don't modelhug the GFS.

If the nonsense does not stop, posts will be relayed to moderators and warnings will be dished out.

End story, my map still looks good IMO and the GFS now supports it, even if the ETA/SREF/GFS don't support it 100000% does not mean I suck at forecasting, and I'm sticking by it as I feel I made an accurate forecast map.

Highest totals from east central pa through central NJ but a secondary area over the poconos and NW NJ because of 25:1 to 30:1 ratios with surface temps near zero F.

I don't really care about model hugging. All I care about is someone who can make a sensible forecast with data to back it up AND incredible graphics  to boot.

Really Q, PLEASE keep posting either here or where ever you move to. Even though I don't have any formal training in Meteorology I really feel like I'm listening to a Meteorologist when I read your posts. You even helped me understand MOS data!! Keep it up!

I retract the pimply/teen comment, but it was meant in jest after you created a thread to insult me specifically....Yes GFS has jogged slightly N, but that should not matter to you as you have written it off..Not suggesting you hug any model, and if you wanna discount the GFS then fine...Just don't use it then when it gives you more snow..My comments were largely about your call of <1" for all of DC and your assertion that the 00z ETA matches your map and also that it means that it will verify.....I guess we'll see what happens manana...good luck

Your post is within your quote tag. You might wanna fix that.

I dont know if Q is really discounting the GFS, but he is not accepting the southern track that it shows, because it is the outlier right now. There really isnt much to support it at this point. So in this stage of the game it would be best to go with a different solution.

Reasonable minds are free to disagree with your forecasts..If you can't take that, then you shouldn't be posting your thoughts non-stop.....

Woodstock, it does appear that things are coming more in line for a more northward track, so as of right now, good job on the forecast. That said... just as with your last thread, I find certain statements to be laughable.

For example...
End story, my map still looks good IMO and the GFS now supports it, even if the ETA/SREF/GFS don't support it 100000% does not mean I suck at forecasting
Again, the map is looking pretty good right now, but this talk of "I don't suck at forecasting!" is just going overboard IMHO -- you can interpret model data and turn your guess into a map format, as can many others here. It doesn't mean you are a "forecaster." If that's what you want to be, good luck becoming one after college, but right now your tone is... well, overconfident. Please keep offering your opinions, just don't be posting LESSONS for all to learn from and accusing anyone who disagrees with your weather-related opinions of not knowing their stuff.
