White on the ground & rooftops this morning...

#1 Postby southerngale » Sun Jan 11, 2004 4:22 pm

Too bad it was just frost.

It "almost" looked snowy, LOL! I had to pour water over my front and rear windshield to get all the ice off this morning....it was cold! brrrr
And right now it's 58°!! Some warmup today!

Now I'm just waiting on that snow! :)

Our chances of getting snow don't look good for the forseable future as all that arctic air up north looks to stay there. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll get a true arctic blast this year to send us way down into the low 20's/teens...our time is beginning to run up.

PTrackerLA, I was thinking the same thing....but then I remember the March '93 storm. We got about 8 inches of snow here. It was wild!

Unless things have changed substantially since yesterday we have about a week and a half or about 11 or 12 days till we get the Arctic blast, yes even in TX. I understand that is all long range and could change, but it sure has been consistent in the models so far, just in varying degrees, which is usual for this far out. And as far as time running out I have seen it in the 20's here in Houston in March. January and February are traditionally our coldest months.

Most of Artic Air sliding to the East

#7 Postby One Eye » Sun Jan 11, 2004 11:06 pm

Wonder when are we on Gulf Coast are going to get some true artic air instead of all the "snow and cold lovers" in the east getting all of it. The low that is depicted to develop in western gulf was looking good a few days ago, however the cold air is no longer in the models and any winter precip is gone. All I want is some artic air and a good low to develop in western gulf tracking east northeast!
