Recent wx has left MUCH to be desired, but tonight is cool

#1 Postby Anonymous » Wed Dec 31, 2003 12:55 am

We are sitting at 32 degrees with a dewpoint of 17. Looks like we are gonna have a nice cool night, low looks to be heading for the mid 20s. Too bad we have to put up with another high in the 50s tomorrow, but at least its better than that d@mn 62-degree meltdown we had a couple days ago.

That snowpile I saw at Potomac Mills------It's still there, I saw it again during another jebwalk tonight in 39/17 T/D conditions------It's 14 inches tall and 7 feet long and about 3 feet wide. It just might make it to the cooler weather next week. Tonight will help it freeze up some.

All the model posturing toward a potential arctic outbreak-----even an outright Cross-Polar flow-----has got me feeling somewhat better, but I will continue to exercise caution-----We have a SE Ridge to contend with and NEG PNA in the West(READ:Western Trough!!) and no NEG NAO in the east(READ: Eastern RIDGE!!) AND ONE HELL of a POWERFUL PAC JET (READ: Very Mild Pacific Airmass Over the CONUS!!).

Thus my caution.

Snow Blitz JEB---Still praying for a devastatingly frigid winter w/Crippling wind-driven snows and HUGE, absolutely IMPASSABLE 15 to 20-foot DRIFTS---but the pattern is letting me down. The pattern is letting a lot of good folks down so far.........
