Winter Weather Summary
POSTED: December 29, 2003 7:01 a.m.

Snowy West Coast Weather

A storm rolling off the Pacific will bring heavy rain to the coast and pile up the snow in the mountains of northern and central California Monday and Monday night. The accumulating snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains will be best measured with a yard stick during the next 24 hours. The snow levels in the Sierra Nevada will be around 3,000 feet, and the snow will be heavy all the way up to the highest passes, where it will accumulate close to two feet over Donner and Carson Passes. Three to five feet of snow will be found upon the peaks of the southern Sierra Nevada by daybreak Wednesday morning.

Snow from this storm will not be limited to just the Sierra Nevada today. Snow in the Cascades of Oregon and California and across the rest of the high country of northern California Monday and Monday night will accumulate at least 3-6 inches above 1,000 feet with up to a foot of snow in the southern Oregon Cascades and California Cascades above 3,000 feet. Snow across south-central and eastern Oregon, northern Nevada, western and northern Utah, Idaho into southwestern Montana, western Wyoming and north-western Colorado Monday and Monday night will accumulate at least 1-3 inches. Heavier snow across northeastern Nevada, Utah, northern Idaho and western Wyoming will accumulate closer to 6 inches with up to a foot possible above 6,000 feet.

Just praying and hoping that it won't exacerbate the flooding and mudslides from earlier!

Hello Eric, Joshua and Christopher. :D

The way it sounds, a lot of precipitation is likely across the southwestern states... not a good situation to say the least for those areas ravaged by the flooding, mudslides, avalanches.
