on the gfs at on the day 14-16 days. Could be the snowstorm for the Northeast area.
I say the first week of Jan will be cold and models now show the cold air coming very soon.
look on the gfs 06 run storm just off the east coast

Take it a few days at a time! Two weeks is an eternity. Day 7 and beyond should trend cold/colder for the east though, which should set the remainder of the month and February to be on the cold wet/white side. Watch Europe and the temps there. When they are cold we tend to be mild; when AK gets mild the east tends to be cold. Broadbrush rule, but usually not bad. Means high positioned in NW NA allowing cold air to filter down into the CONUS. We should see the cold after next weekend. Cheers!!

Bliz, bliz, bliz ... shame on you for even using the 06z GFS 14-16 days out with specific SFC details. Any GFS run past 10 days with SFC depictions are for entertainment purposes only.
The 00z GFS Ensembles look vastly different than the 06z OP GFS.
Progressive Flow continues to reek havoc with the specific details and run to run continuity continues to lack due to that screaming PAC ... JET, that is.

There's only one thing worse than a screaming Pac Jet.
A doggone stubborn SE Ridge.
But we did manage a low of 32 degrees last night! The ground was nice and frozen; it did cheer me up.
But then, it IS in the low 50s again.................... And tomorrow bodes much worse.............Highs in the low 60s............................
Hello early spring......
