Midsouths Winter
I know all the eyes have been on the NE with good reason. What though do you all think will take place here in the Midsouth maybe a couple of good ice storms or snow maybe or just cold air? It seems this year has started off like some of the good years I remember for winter storms here where the air dives into tx and spreads out. Maybe RNS, Valkhorn or some others can shed some light on this subject. I live about a 100 miles S of Memphis in the delta where often whatever happens we get socked. DO you think with the suppressed track we can also get in on the action here. Last year it got cold enough often but the storm which dumped 4-5 inches of sleet and snow on Dallas by the time it came across I-20 in LA headed NE toward our way became nothing but a virga storm.

Yeah, that ice storm is my most memorable one. I live in far south Arlington, Texas and we had 4.5 inches of sleet, snow, and an extra glaze of freezing rain (we were fine until the freezing rain nailed us).
You should be grateful that all that was left for you guys was virga. It was truly a nightmare experience for us - I was trapped at home for 2 ays because the ice shutdown I-20 and sand/salt and plow trucks were stuck too!
I love snow and sleet, but not that storm. That storm sucked. No fluffy snow balls to throw. Just hard thick glaze of ice.
But, I was able to do something unfathomable to me --- I palyed ice hockey on my street -- the ice was thick and hard enough for skating! I have pictures to prove it.

That sounds like what the PDS left here in February. We had a couple inches of sleet, then a few hours of flurries, then a couple hours of -ZR and then a last few hours of sleet. That was about the thickest ice I'd ever seen on the ground at any time. It was definately like one big hockey rink.
