As the snow moved in from the south and southwest last night DCA got a heavier burst than I received here. I received 1/3" of an inch up until midnight and not quite 1/3 of an inch since then. There are some high amounts in northern and western suburbs and ther are also numerous reports of 0-1" in immediate area and eastern and southern suburbs. The coastal has not taken shape yet, as far as dc metro is concerned at this time this is a split decision as the "big event" or not.

Officially, 6.8" of snow was recorded at Virginia Tech airport yesterday, but 3 miles N of there I measured about 7.5".. and that was before the sleet and freezing rain. Overall I'm happy about it Maybe we can pick up another 1 or 2 inches tonight/tomorrow..

that sucks---Western Fairfax County got 5-8 inches...Montgomery County got 5 plus inches---and you only got half an inch?

Let's try to do some total area reporting because what is being posted, if I compare it to the hands on a clock, are reports from about the 7-12 location, areas 10+ miles north and west of DC. Notice the absence of info from Springfield, Alexandria, Arlington, Camp Springs, Waldorf, Upper Marlboro, Bowie, Lanham,Hyattsville, Greenbelt, Beltsville, Laurel, Wheaton, Silver Spring, and DC proper, etc-areas that comprise the 12-7 portion of the clock so to speak. Those areas range between 0-2".

I have noticed that the precip west of Philly has been much lighter and spottier than the precip from Philly east. Places in NJ will end up with 8"+ of snow, while most areas in PA west of Philly will struggle to get above 4". Not that I am complaining - I will be happy with 4 inches from the first storm. Just making an observation.

Which shouldn't be surprising, as PG County and points south and east generally do get less snow that points north and west. At least they did when I grew up in Upper Marlboro, Bowie, and Waldorf

Yes only about an inch here in Dupont Circle.....53, I am sorry, but you busted badly on part 1....We got more than the occasional wet snowflake mixing in.....Dulles and vicinity got way more than 2 inches on grassy surfaces, and part 2 may or may not happen....Stop trying to spin everything to fit with your 79-80 agenda..Matt
