ICE STORM for Winston-Salem, Roanoke?

The Weather Channel is saying Western NC and SW Virginia could see significant icing Thursday night.

Why? Is someone baking a whole lot of cakes in those area? :wink:

I do think there will be some wintry precip in SW VA and western NC, be it ice or snow.

Winter storm watch is in full effect here.

I dont see it happening. I say it will be too dry for the precip to reach teh ground untill after daybreak on Thursday. Then it will be too warm to support ice.
I see an all rain event for us in the southern apps.

Different story on Friday night and into the weekend.

This is so interesting because of the slight differences between rain/freezing rain/sleet/snow. It will be interesting to watch it unfold.
