That is the jet stream going from east to west, a strange year for snow in the west from California to Texas. A very odd and unexplainable situation that never happened again.

The map is from 1932 and it shows the jet stream going from east to west that produced snow, some heavy, on the west coast down to Texas and this pattern of the jet stream was unexplainable to why it developed as it did.
